California Gubernatorial Candidate Criticizes Cabrillo Port

Citing environmental and public safety concerns, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Phil Angelides has expressed opposition to BHP Billiton’s Cabrillo Port LNG terminal planned for offshore California, according to The Los Angeles Times. Angelides stated that, if elected, he would veto the project. However, BHP Billiton spokesperson Pat Cassidy countered Angelides’ claims, saying, “[t]his project is more than 14 miles from the closest point to shore.” [Free registration necessary]
