Some in Coos County Mull Jordan Cove LNG Vote

Coos County officials and residents are trying to determine if a countywide vote should be administered to gauge public sentiment regarding Jordan Cove Energy’s proposed LNG terminal. Some community leaders believe the vote would have little influence in light of FERC’s siting authority and would appeal to emotions rather than address objective issues, such as land use requirements. However, North Bend mayor Rick Wetherell says a vote showing no support for the terminal could send a message to the developer, noting, “I have heard (Jordan Cove officials) say that they don’t want to be in an area that doesn’t want them.”  The World has the story.
