LNG Terminal Dredging May Help Texas Wetlands

Dredging associated with two LNG terminals planned for Texas may benefit area wetlands, according to an article in today’s Beaumont Enterprise. Permits for the Golden Pass LNG terminal mandate the restoration of wetlands that may be lost at the construction site, a fact which has local officials quite pleased. “It’s going to benefit everybody. We’re just as delighted as we can be,” said Waymon Hallmark, a Jefferson County Commissioner. Sempra Energy also plans to implement similar mitigation measures once it has secured necessary permits to construct its LNG terminal in Port Arthur, Texas.
