DOE Sec’y Bodman Criticizes Gazprom’s Failure to Select Shtokman Participants
U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman expressed disappointment in the Russian government’s delay in selecting participants for the development of the Shtokman gas reserve. “I stopped trying to forecast when Russia will sort this out,” Bodman said. “I think one or both companies (Chevron or ConocoPhillips) will be put on the final list, if they (Gazprom) bring themselves to moving forward.” Responding to Bodman’s comments, Alexander Ryazanov, deputy head of Russia’s state-owned gas monopoly Gazprom, said a final decision may be issued by the end of the year.
