Save Passamaquoddy Bay Challenges Rep. Michaud on Maine LNG Development
Save Passamaquoddy Bay, a local activist group that opposes LNG development near Passamaquoddy Bay, has asked U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud (D-Maine) to clarify his position on LNG terminals in Maine. In an email dated May 11, Michaud said he opposes legislation that “unfairly limit[s] the role of communities in determining where LNG facilities should be placed.” The opposition group has replied asking Michaud to state whether he supports the Passamaquoddy Bay LNG projects and whether he will undertake the study and promotion of SIGTTO’s standards for LNG terminal siting. Save Passamaquoddy Bay sent similar messages to Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.
