Virginia Energy Plan Headed to Governor

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that on March 9, 2006, the Virginia Senate agreed to the House-passed version of the State’s energy plan. The plan encourages the siting of one or more LNG terminals in the State. Under the plan, the State Corporation Commission would develop a scoring system which considers a variety of social and economic factors to determine the most suitable parcels of land for the siting of terminals, including berthing facilities and proximity to gas pipelines. However, no more than three sites may be designated as optimal sites. For additional coverage on this issue, see The Richmond Times-Dispatch and SNL Financial.
