The project manager for AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal responded to Rep. C.A. Dutch Rupperberger’s concerns about the project in an op-ed published Saturday by The Baltimore Sun. Citing the extensive regulatory process that a terminal must go through, Kent Morton emphasizes that the LNG industry is safe. Also, Morton argues that everyone from emergency response personnel to crew members undergoes comprehensive training, which helps contribute to the LNG industry’s “enviable safety record.” Morton emphasized the company’s interest in engaging in a dialogue with community leaders to address their concerns.
