A Groton, Conn. resident says that the Broadwater LNG proposal presents safety and environmental risks that outweigh the benefits of a cleaner burning fuel. “I don’t dispute the need for alternate energy sources, but the location of the proposed terminal is flawed,” he said in an op-ed published Saturday by The Day. “My concern is the safety of the public and environment.” He also says that Connecticut residents would receive only one-quarter of the natural gas supply provided by Broadwater, and therefore Connecticut should not have to bear the significant risks associated with the facility.
