Modifications Planned for Offshore Main Pass Terminal

Freeport Vice President David Landry said the company is redesigning its proposed Main Pass LNG terminal to mitigate the environmental impact of its open-loop system. For example, the terminal would reduce its need for sea water by re-using excess heat from the port, and would install a filter to protect fish larvae. A final environmental impact statement released by the U.S. Coast Guard on Friday said the facility would pose “minor environmental impacts.” Today’s Times-Picayune has the story.
