Connecticut DEP and Governor’s Task Force Intervene in Broadwater Docket
The Connecticut State Department of Environmental Protection yesterday petitioned to intervene in FERC’s review of the Broadwater LNG terminal, as did the Connecticut LNG Task Force. Conn. DEP’s petition asserts that “security zones associated with the proposed project are likely to lie, in part, within the territorial limits of” Connecticut. Today’s Hartford Courant reports on the interventions, the coastal consistency review process and Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s participation. “I am committed to pursuing every available opportunity for Connecticut to play a meaningful role in the review of the Broadwater application,” Gov. Rell said. “This project would dramatically alter the nature and character of Long Island Sound – a natural resource that is virtually important to our state.” [Access to archived articles requires a fee.]
