US LNG Industry Impacted by Global Events in 2005
Cargo diversions and technical difficulties involving infrastructure abroad are among the reasons why 2005 was a disappointing year for the U.S. LNG sector, according to this week’s World Gas Intelligence. “The big change in 2005 was how much the US market was impacted by world events,” said senior Dept. of Energy analyst Phyllis Martin. However, Ed Kelly of Wood Mackenzie foreshadows an upswing in the industry. “Korea, Japan and Europe outbidding the US and preventing it from taking its normal share – this is temporary,” he said.
