Op-ed: U.S. Must Take Action in Curbing Energy Shortfall
U.S. Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (D-Mass.) says that while there are environmental and safety concerns about LNG development, terminal proposals such as those sited for offshore Massachusetts should be considered in light of the energy predicament. Lynch, who serves on the House subcommittee on national security, emerging threats and international relations, is also calling for more government intervention in the form of a Public LNG Reserve which “would purchase lower-cost natural gas at favorable rates during summer months and store it at facilities within the state or region.” His op-ed is in today’s Boston Globe.
