El Paso Announces Start-Up of Second Elba Island Expansion

El Paso Corporation yesterday issued a press release announcing the start-up of its completed expansion project, which increases the terminal’s total storage capacity to 7.3 Bcf and total send-out capacity to 1.2 Bcf/d. The expansion includes a new docking area which can accommodate two LNG tankers simultaneously. Jim Yardley, president of El Paso’s Southern Pipeline Group, says the company has already initiated the regulatory process for the terminal’s third expansion and expects service to begin in 2010.
