Analyst Predicts Increase of LNG Shipments to the US
The Gerdes Group expects greater liquefaction capacity in the Atlantic Basin to yield more US LNG imports and cause US gas prices to decrease. The Atlantic Basin LNG market “is on the cusp of an almost 50% increase in liquefaction, and after accounting for contracted volumes dedicated to various markets, the US appears likely to keep up with Europe in terms of incremental LNG imports,” John Gerdes said in a report. He predicts that US natural gas prices will drop to an average of $7/MMBtu in the next few months. For more on Gerdes’ report, see Friday’s Platts LNG Daily. [Subscription required]
