Report Says LNG Development Would Be an Economic Boon for Maine
A report commissioned by Gov. John Baldacci says the three LNG proposals targeted for Washington County, Maine would propel the region’s economy, but also pose challenges including tribal and security concerns. David Flanagan, former president of Central Maine Power Co., and author of the study, said that although financial arrangements for the terminals are not yet in place, the creation of an LNG “working group” could be a way to establish administrative procedures before federal authorities issue permits.
