Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection Submits Comments on Crown Landing Air Quality

Yesterday FERC issued the October 26 comments of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regarding FERC’s air quality General Draft Conformity Determination for the proposed BP Crown Landing LNG terminal in New Jersey. Among other things, the DEP stated that “the Determination document submitted to the Department does not support a conformity determination as required” by regulation. Moreover, the DEP noted that FERC omitted information necessary to demonstrate that the project’s air emissions would be consistent with Pennsylvania’s State Implementation Plan. Finally, the DEP called on FERC to meet with the air quality agencies from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as the EPA, “to establish what information is required to properly develop the Determination.” The DEP’s filing can be found in the FERC e-Library, under docket CP04-411.
