Bloomberg reports that the expansion of the Panama Canal is expected to open June 26, 2016, “almost two years behind schedule.” According to the report, the expansion will accommodate LNG carriers and enable such carriers traveling from the U.S. Gulf Coast to reach Asian markets “more than two weeks faster than they would going east through the Suez Canal.”
