Oregon Legislators Propose Measures to Strengthen State Authority in LNG Terminal Siting Process

The Oregonian (Portland, Ore.) reports that State Rep. Deboarh Boone (D-Cannon Beach) and State Sen. Floyd Prozanski (D-Lane and Douglas Counties) will propose legislation that would require LNG terminal developers to prove that LNG is needed in Oregon, that imported LNG would be less costly than domestic natural gas, and that the terminal project would comport with state standards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, the piece also reports that the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals is scheduled to decide today on an appeal of Clatsop County’s approval of the land use application for the Bradwood Landing LNG terminal project.
