U.S. Coast Guard Deems Weaver’s Cove Waterway “Unsuitable” for LNG Tanker Traffic

The Associated Press (carried via the Boston Globe) reports that the U.S. Coast Guard has released its Letter of Recommendation regarding waterway suitability which announces that the Taunton River is “unsuitable” for LNG tanker traffic as proposed by Weaver’s Cove LNG. This decision reaffirms the Coast Guard’s initial evaluation of the waterway and, according to a Coast Guard spokesperson, “kills the project, as proposed.”
