Alaskan Gas Project Attracts International Interest

The U.S. Federal Coordinator for the Alaskan Natural Gas Transportation Projects revealed last week that Spain’s Repsol YPF SA, BG Group, a Chinese company, TransCanada Corp. (TRP), the Alaskan Gasline Port Authority, and Mid-America Pipeline Co. have expressed interest in pipeline proposals to transport gas from fields in Alaska’s North Slope to a liquefaction facility, generally expected to be in Valdez. Dow Jones News Service (carried via Energy Central Professional [subscription required]) further reports that the project is not expected to come on stream until at least 2018.
