Quoddy Bay Official Claims Canadian Study Not Necessary for Coast Guard Review

Brian Smith, project manager for Quoddy Bay LNG, says the Coast Guard’s letter informing FERC that it cannot finish its Waterway Suitability Assessment without data from Canada does not present an insurmountable obstacle for the project. “We will point out to the Coast Guard we can’t fulfill that criteria but you know, the United States is not going to give up its rights to transit that waterway because Canada won’t release a study,” Smith said. The Telegraph-Journal (New Brunswick, Canada) provides further details.
