FERC Requests Proposed Brownsville Area LNG Projects to Assess Failed Rocket Launch Impacts

FERC has sent letters to Annova LNG, Rio Grande LNG, LLC, and Texas LNG Brownsville, LLC, stating that their proposals to construct LNG export terminal facilities near Brownsville, Texas “involve[] possible siting concerns posed from potential failed rocket launches from the nearby Space Exploration Technologies Corporation’s launch site at Boca Chica Village.” FERC requested the companies provide additional information regarding this issue and that they “retain or utilize a third-party organization with expertise in space launch safety analyses for [their projects] to better assist in the independent review of this possible siting concern.”
