CE FLNG Provides Status Report on Proposed Floating LNG Export Terminal
CE FLNG has filed with FERC an update on the status of its proposed self-propelled floating LNG export terminal on the Mississippi River near Baptiste Collette Bayou in Plaquemines Parish, La. According to the report, among other things, CE FLNG (1) is waiting for a ruling by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the lawfulness of CE FLNG’s proposed use of non-coastwise-qualified vessels for use as floating storage and liquefaction units to liquefy natural gas; (2) states that it has restructured its projects to seek protection from market power as new barriers to entry to the U.S. LNG export market have been introduced by the U.S. Department of Energy’s new LNG export permitting processes; (3) plans to file a formal application with FERC on May 15, 2015; and (4) anticipates commencing service in the first quarter of 2019.
