Hawaii Gas Files Application to Import LNG

Pacific Business News reports that Hawaii Gas has filed an application with the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission to import LNG beginning October 2013 to use as a backup energy supply for the company’s synthetic natural gas customers. Although the application did not disclose the details of the LNG supply source or any price terms, a Hawaii Gas official stated that the LNG would be shipped from the continental United States.
